Not the Usual Suspects: Harper to reach outside of politics for new Chief of Staff

A couple of sources have tipped off Canada NewsDesk that Prime Minister Stephen Harper is planning to reach outside of the political insider class for his next Chief of Staff. With Guy Giorno stepping down, Ottawa has been abuzz with speculation about who would be tapped for the number one political staffer job in Canada.

We can reveal that the names of insiders bandied about in the media like Bruce Carson are wrong.

Harper will not be reaching into the talent pool of current or former Ottawa staffers for the new PMO supremo. Neither will he will be recruiting from the Mike Harris regime. Expect a new Chief of Staff with serious business credentials.
