Manning preparing bid to be Premier of Alberta

Since Ed Stelmach announced he wouldn't be running again on January 25th, there has been a lot of speculation about who will run. Ted Morton, the Finance Minister, has resigned from that office in order to be a leadership candidate. Readers have sent Canada News Desk tips that both the Justice Minister Allison Redford, and Conservative MP James Rajotte are considering bids.

But it looks like Preston Manning might be considering running for the job that his father held for a quarter of century. On January 26th, just one day after Stelmach's announcement, someone registered www.preston4premier.com.

It is well known that Manning considered running for the Alberta PC leadership after Ralph Klein's departure in 2006. Since his retirement from elected politics Manning has been busy running the Manning Centre, which is dedicated to training conservative activists in the dark arts of campaigning. What better purpose for all these trained activists than to work on the campaign for the fellow who trained them?
