Ignatieff the Rapper

Move over Drake. There’s a new rapper in the T Dot and he comes from serious Russian bling.

Canada News Desk’s Web Crawler has discovered that Theo Ignatieff, the little-known son of Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff, was (and maybe still is) a hip hop recording artist who performed under the stage name The Theologist.

While living in the UK, Theo recorded “Tripple Vision”, a track which appeared on a British compilation CD.

You can hear the song here:

**NOTE The song is also available on Theo's MySpace page.

Throughout the song, Theo, now a Toronto resident, repeatedly chants “Pass the Rizla” and sings about “smoking up”. He describes himself as “standard Theo, nothing else”.

Later in the song, an older male voice asks: “What do you aspire to?” The Theologist chants: “Tripple Vision”.

Theo’s mother is Susan Barrowclough, Michael Ignatieff’s first wife. To date Michael Ignatieff has said very little about his son, except in a 2009 interview in which he described Theo as having a “problem” during a discussion about literacy.
